Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock

In this year’s Samuel Adams Winter Classics 12-pack, Samuel Adams has expanded the scope of their Chocolate Bock.  Previously, the Chocolate Bock could only be found in Limited Edition 25.9 ounce bottles.

The beer smelled sweet, with a scent of chocolate.  With the taste, it was a smooth, malty bock that had a hint of chocolate flavor that comes from the Ecuador cocoa nibs that the beer is aged on.  The chocolate was not too overpowering, and was subtle.  It was just enough to let you know it was there.

I’m glad to see Samuel Adams added Chocolate Bock to the Winter Classics as a seasonal beer.

Have you tried the Chocolate Bock?  What did you think?

  1. I drank the Chocolate Bock the other night and was thinking this might be like the cranberry beer they had before which I didn’t like. It went down very smooth but still was undecided about my oppinion of it. A couple of days later I had my second bottle and it hit me just right. Smooth and creamy subtle chocolate flavor. Heavenly! I will continue to buy the Winter Classics Variety pack as long as it is available. The Holiday Porter is a smooth sail too.

  2. I’ve had the chocolate bock in the limited edition bomber bottle, and I’ve liked it since then. It is very smooth, and a great choice for the winter pack.

  3. We just bought the Samuel Adams Winter Classics. I LOVED the Chocolate Bock. You described it perfectly. It is very smooth, not overpowering with chocolate, but just enough to notice. I sure hope that it is not hard to find, because I would love to share it with my friends. But if it is, then maybe I will not share it. I also enjoyed the Fezziwig Ale. That was great ice cold.

  4. I had one of my friends mention that they bought the case only for the chocolate bock. I hope Sam Adams makes it easier to find. Once the winter season is over, you’ll have to try the Young’s Double Chocolate Stout or Rogue’s Chocolate Stout. They aren’t a lager like the Chocolate Bock, but they are just as good.

  5. I am not an expert by any means, but, I know what I like. The Chocolate Bock is my favorite beer. I enjoy it with food or by itself. I would really like to know how I can purchase an entire case of the velvety chocolate goodness .
